Strategy Documnet 2020-2025: Hume Riverina Comunity Legal

In 2020, I had the pleasure of working with Hume Riverina Community Legal Service (HRCLS) on their Strategy Document for 2020–2025.

Strategy documents do important work, but they can easily become dense or hard to navigate. The goal here was to present HRCLS’s purpose, priorities, and future direction in a way that felt clear and approachable for the community and stakeholders who rely on it.

The brief

HRCLS needed a document that outlined:

  • who they are
  • why they exist
  • what they do
  • what they’d be focusing on over the next five years

'It's a huge relief when Amy agrees to carry out the design work for us each year... her creative input has ensured our report looks professional and fresh every time.'

An open booklet lies on a grey surface. The left page shows a smiling woman in a yellow scarf beside a man, whilst the right page displays a simple table of contents with orange text.
An open magazine on a grey surface displays articles with photos of people reading and smiling, and a young woman sitting by a window. The layout includes orange headings and text sections about legal services.
Open magazine on a grey surface; left page displays text and colourful value statements in circles, right page shows a woman in a striped jumper pushing a pram outdoors with sunlight in the background.

The approach

This project was about making information easier to absorb. That meant building a layout with strong hierarchy, clean spacing, and a calm visual rhythm — so readers can scan, find what matters, and keep moving.

To support the story and add warmth, I also sourced imagery that aligned with the tone of the organisation and complemented the content.

Deliverables

To ensure HRCLS could publish and share the strategy across channels, I delivered:

  • document design
  • print-ready artwork/PDFs for professional production
  • an interactive PDF for digital publication and easy sharing

The outcome

HRCLS received a strategy document that looks professional, reads clearly, and works equally well in print or online, helping them communicate their priorities with confidence.

As the HRCLS team shared, it’s a relief having the design handled, and keeping their publications looking “professional and fresh.”
